After a two year hiatus to this long standing south side tradition, the south side Irish parade has made a comeback this year!!! Basically, the city of Chicago cancelled it because people were having a little too much fun and the family atmosphere that it once was seemed to have diminished. This once family friendly tradition converted to a drunk and disorderly fest that was attended by literally every Irish person in the city. And if you know anything about St. Patrick's Day in Chicago, EVERYONE is Irish, if just for one day. But, I am happy to report that the parade came back with a bang. There was not a drunk or disorderly person in sight...not that they had a choice because security was so high. Nothing but families and a ton of kiddos. It was perfect. And honestly, it could not have been a better day for it. It was SIMPLY BEAUTIFUL outside. It was one of those days were I was not hot OR cold....and if you know me, that is rarely the case...HA! The boys had a blast watching all of the local high school bands, horses, floats, etc. It was a perfect day and I am so happy to instill this wonderful tradition to my boys.
Here are some photos of our great day spent with family and friends. A special thanks goes out to the Harts' and Kaskies' for inviting us to your post parade Irish celebrations. The food was delicious and the kiddos had a blast!!!
