Ashes

This morning, the boys and I went to church for Ash Wednesday. Although I still have not decided what to give up yet for Lent, I still needed to acknowledge that it has begun so I bundled them up, packed toys and drinks, and off to church we went!

It is sometimes great and frankly refreshing to see that some things truly never change. Specifically in today's case, all of the St. Catherine's students packed the church in their adorable little uniforms sitting "boy, girl, boy, girl, etc., etc." And the "chatty Cathy's" of their respective classes being pulled out the pew and having to sit next to their teachers for the remainder of mass. Man, the memories! Was it not only yesterday that I was a student there? Now, I have 2 little boys that will be a SC chargers themselves in a couple more years! Something about school kids in uniforms gets me every time...they are so stinkin cute!

Jack thought the "big boys" were so cool because they got the be the ushers for Ash Weds. Mass. He ALWAYS loves giving money at the weekly collection, but he thought he was especially cool today giving it to the "big boys."

After repeatably asking me, "Mommy, why that man put dirt on your face?!?!?!" He decided that he too wanted to get some ashes....so like the big boy that he is, the Little Man received ashes too. I caught a few shots just after lunch right before his nap when he was really tired. Thank God, I got this shot before his nap because afterwards, they were all gone. For the rest of the afternoon, I was repeatably informed, "Mommy, I broke my ashes"........meaning they disappeared:) Oh, this kid!
